Your Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Paro
Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, you will be greeted by your guide and transferred to Paro hotel. Paro is a picturesque valley surrounded by lush green hills and dotted with traditional Bhutanese farmhouses. After checking in, you can relax and acclimatize to Bhutan’s altitude. If time permits, you may take a leisurely stroll around Paro town to enjoy the serene atmosphere and get a feel for Bhutan’s culture.
Day 2 : Paro – Hike to Taktsang Monastery(3,120)
The day begins with a hike to the iconic Taktsang Monastery, also known as the Tiger’s Nest, perched at 3,120 m on a cliffside. The trail ascends through forests of pine trees adorned with prayer flags, providing a spiritual and tranquil ambiance. After a challenging climb of about 4-5 hours (round trip), you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views of the Paro Valley and the sacred monastery. Taktsang is one of Bhutan’s most revered pilgrimage sites, rich in history and legend. Post-hike, you can enjoy additional sightseeing in Paro, such as visiting Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest temples. Overnight at Paro Hotel
Day 3 : Trek Begins – Paro to Jilli Dzong(2,200m)
The trek starts with a gradual climb from Paro (2,200 m) to Jilli Dzong (3,110 m), covering about 5 hours of walking. The trail winds through dense forests of blue pine, rhododendron, and oak, offering stunning views of the surrounding mountains. Jilli Dzong is a historic fortress that now serves as a monastery. From here, you can enjoy panoramic views of the Paro Valley below. The night will be spent camping near the dzong, under a blanket of stars.Overnight at Camp
Day 4 : Jilli Dzong to Jangchulhakha(3,600)
The trek continues as you ascend from Jilli Dzong to Jangchulhakha (3,600 m), taking about 5 hours. The trail traverses scenic ridges and meadows, with opportunities to spot yak herder camps along the way. The peaceful environment, coupled with distant views of snow-capped peaks, creates a serene and immersive trekking experience. Camp overnight at Jangchulhakha amidst the tranquil wilderness.
Day 5 : Jangchulhakha to Jana Tsho(3,956m)
Today’s trek is the longest, taking approximately 7 hours as you ascend from Yangchulhakha to Jana Tsho (3,956 m). The trail follows high ridges with uninterrupted views of the Himalayan ranges. As you approach Jana Tsho, you’ll be greeted by a serene alpine lake surrounded by rugged landscapes, making it an ideal spot for camping. The pristine waters and peaceful surroundings make this a highlight of the trek.Overnight stay at Camp
Day 6 : Jana Tsho to Phadjoding(3,956)
The trek descends slightly today as you make your way from Jana Tsho (3,956 m) to Phadjoding (3,600 m) over approximately 6 hours. The trail offers spectacular views of Bhutan’s valleys and mountains, with Phadjoding Monastery as your destination. This spiritual retreat is known for its peaceful setting and cultural significance. Camp overnight near the monastery, soaking in the serene ambiance.
Day 7 : Phadjoding to Road Point – Drive to Thimphu(3,600m)
The final leg of the trek is a descent from Phadjoding (3,600 m) to the road point, taking about 2-3 hours. The trail passes through forests of juniper and rhododendron, gradually leading you to civilization. From the road point, a drive takes you to Bhutan’s capital, Thimphu (2,334 m). Spend the evening exploring Thimphu, visiting attractions such as the Buddha Dordenma statue or Tashichho Dzong. Overnight at Thimphu Hotel.
Day 8 : Drive to Punakha(3-4 hours)
After breakfast, drive from Thimphu (2,334 m) to Punakha (1,250 m), a journey of about 3-4 hours. En route, stop at Dochula Pass (3,100 m), where you can enjoy panoramic views of the Himalayan ranges and the 108 memorial chortens. In Punakha, visit the magnificent Punakha Dzong, situated at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers. Later, take a short hike to Chimi Lhakhang, the Fertility Temple, renowned for its unique blessings. Overnight at Punakha Hotel
Day 9 : Drive to Paro(3-4 hours)
Begin the day with a scenic drive back to Paro (2,200 m), covering about 3-4 hours. Along the way, enjoy stops at picturesque viewpoints and cultural landmarks. Upon reaching Paro, you can relax or explore the town one last time for souvenirs or local crafts. Overnight at Paro Hotel.
Day 10 : Departure from Paro
On your final day, transfer to Paro International Airport for your departure. Take one last glimpse of Bhutan’s stunning landscapes as your journey concludes, leaving you with unforgettable memories of the trek and cultural experiences.
